SATISH KUMAR DHALL

B.A. (Honours) History, from the prestigious St. Stephens College, New Delhi in 1964 and have over four decades of rich experience in plantations, agri-business, and the FMCG industry.

 

Started career with The Assam Tea Company Limited (erstwhile MacNeill & Barry Limited), a part of the heritage Inchcape Group of companies which completes 175 years of existence in 2014. Rose to the position of Director Production of this Company in 1991/1992.
 

Joined Doom Dooma Tea Company, a subsidiary of Unilever, UK as Managing Director. Upon merger with Brooke Bond Lipton India Limited (Unilever Group), became its Joint Managing Director. Post the amalgamation of all Unilever entities in India, was the Executive Director of Hindustan Unilever Plantations serving on the Hindustan Unilever Limited Board for over five years till retirement in 2005. While in Unilever and Hindustan Lever Ltd attended in-house training programmes on Business Strategy, Finance, Leadership, Marketing, General Management and Unilever Sustainability Plan focusing on environment safety, health and energy conservation.
 

 Led Unilever's plantation business in North East and South India in politically and socially challenging conditions and facilitated the setting up of the largest Personal Products Factory in Unilever Asia in the troubled state of Assam, India in 2002 skilfully handling the challenging social sensitivities of local communities.
 

Initiated several of Unilever's Social Responsibility initiatives like the Ankur School for the Differently Abled, for which was awarded the prestigious Lawrie Group World Aware Award for Social Progress by Her Royal Highness (HRH) The Princess Royal, at a ceremony held at the Royal Institution of Great Britain on 14th January 1999 while serving as Chief Executive Plantations, Hindustan Lever Limited.
 

Took keen interest in various initiatives relating to the Community Social Responsibility (CSR) including setting up of three schools, two in South India and one in North India for the Handicapped and Less Privileged Children.
 

Appointed Director Unilever Plantations & Plant Science Group Board at Cambridge, U.K., overseeing the tea operations in Kenya, Tanzania and Malawi.

Was Adviser on Tea to the Government of Iran. On the Government of Iran's request, visited Iran in 2001 and submitted a proposal/report for the complete rehabilitation of the tea industry in Iran, including setting up of an auction centre in Laijan and Teheran.

SUKHDARSHAN SINGH

Served in Williamson Magor for nearly 30 years and had the opportunity to manage the large properties like Baghjan, Dekorai and Dirok. All are excellent quality marks. During my tenure had an opportunity to work on factory renovation and machinery layout projects. Attended three months workshop on Kilburn manufactured Vibro Fluid Bed Dryer at their Bhandup Factory.

 

Joined M.K. Shah Private Limited from 2002 to 2008 as General Manager. The Company produces 10 million kg of quality tea annually, its main strength being Orthodox production. Designed and commissioned successfully, a continuous Orthodox Sorting System, that improved quality, provided even grading, prevented greying and provided saving of man-days.

 

Joined Assam Company India Limited as Visiting Agent from September 2009 to April 2013, with overall responsibility of field, factory, cost control and preparation of budgets for nine estates of the Company. Actively involved in forming and implementing field, factory and administrative policies that enhanced the profitability of the Company.

ARUN KUMAR KAUL

Served in the Assam Company India Limited for 35.1/2 years from December 1966 till retirement as Senior Vice President (Production & Quality Assurance) in July 2001 reporting to the Managing Director.  During this period started a fully Clonal Hybrid tea mark “Oaklands” at Digulturrung Tea Estate. Headed the management team that established a fully Organic Garden mark “Rembeng” at Kondoli Tea Estate. Attended a six week course on “Management Development for the Tea Industry” conducted by Silsoe College of the Cranfield University, Silsoe, Bedford, UK in February & March 1991.

 

Worked as Resident Chief Executive of Craigmore Plantations India Private Ltd (altitude 2500 ft to 6000 ft), The Nilgiris, South India, for 20 months from September 2002 to April 2004. Responsibilities were production, manufacture and marketing of orthodox teas.

Did Field and Factory Consultancy for Kilkotagiri Tea & Coffee Estates Company Ltd, Nilgiris, South India for one and half years in 2005/2006 and a similar Consultancy for Tezpore Tea Company Ltd’s three CTC tea gardens (Bahipookhri, Bettybari and Orang) for one and a half years in 2007/2008.

 

Rejoined the Assam Tea Company India Ltd as Senior Visiting Agent from September 2008 and worked till December 2012, with overall responsibility of the field and factory performance for the 15 Assam gardens producing 15 million kilogram tea. Apart from local auction centres, the teas were sold to Taylors of Harrogate and R. Twinings of UK, J. Bunting and Thiele & Fresse of Germany, Starbucks Coffee Ltd USA, and Tata Global Beverages of India. A big improvement in the production and manufacturing process was brought about in the Company during these three and a quarter years. All tea factories obtained HACCP Certification and all estates exporting teas obtained Rain Forest Alliance Certification during this period. Have an over 44 years of work experience with the Tea Industry.

Participated in, as well as organized Golf Tournaments and Flower Shows.
