It is often said that the designer is as good as the exposure that they have received. In this regard, Shradha Dhall has travelled roads both well beaten and less travelled.

Born in Corbusier’s Chandigarh, a childhood spent in the Tea bungalows of Assam and Calcutta’s imperial mansions, Shradha trained as an interior designer at the Academy of Art university in the golden city. Though the wild abandon of the streets of Sanfancisco were a far cry from the staid pedagogy of her Calcutta convent year, it is exactly this paradox that colors her designs. The future always rests on the shoulders of the past.

Now, with fourteen years of experience and having worked under the tutelage of the renowned Neterwala and Aibara Architects, shradha has a bevy of projects under her belt ranging from private homes, boutique hotels and lounge bars.

“For me a free and frank relationship with the client is indispensable to the success of any project. I find that most designers try to impose their tastes and preferences on the client. My approach is fundamentally different in that regard. I feel it is my job to bring congruence and symmetry to the client’s predispositions and of course stop them from making silly mistakes, that’s where the training comes handy, she says with her naughty glint in her eyes.”
